On October 18, 2025, Jesse McCartney brought his Weightless Tour to a sold out Roxian Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA with Ana Sky as opener. Sky is a scientist-turned-songwriter with an angelic voice. Along with performing her own original songs, Sky covered “Potential Breakup Song” by Aly & AJ and “Toxic” by Britney Spears. Both covers were phenomenal, and I thought it was brilliant that she sang “Potential Breakup Song” as I also saw Aly & AJ live just four days prior to this show. I’m beyond excited to watch Sky’s career blossom considering she is already such a stunning performer.
It was then time for Jesse McCartney to take the stage, and the audience was rowdy with excitement. McCartney did an outstanding job of singing a mix of his new music along with his older hits that the audience would want to hear out of nostalgia. It was incredible to hear the audience give all of the songs the same amount of love, singing just as loudly for “Trip” as they did “She’s No You.” It’s evident that McCartney’s fanbase (including myself) has grown with him over the course of the last 20 years.
McCartney was my first celebrity crush, so hearing all of the throwbacks on the setlist took me right back to my childhood. “Just So You Know” is a special one for me because it’s one of my sister and I’s favorite Jesse McCartney songs. I made sure to record a little snippet of it on my phone to send to her since she lives out of state. Another throwback I was excited to hear was “Right Back in the Water.” McCartney told the story of how John Mayer complimented him on the Right Where You Want Me album, and McCartney thought he was saying it to be kind. However, Mayer pulled out a guitar and started playing the chord progression of “Right Back in the Water,” leaving McCartney to know that it wasn’t just an empty compliment. Mayer truly did like, and know, the album.
Not only is McCartney’s stage presence magnifying from his vocals to his dance moves, but he also makes a point to interact with the crowd as much as possible. One notable moment was when he brought a fan onstage to serenade during “Party for Two,” and another is when McCartney saw a sign asking him to do a gender reveal. He waited until later in the show to announce it, but McCartney told the couple his newborn son and the couple’s child can be future playmates because they are expecting a boy as well.
I had such a great time attending the Weightless Tour. From seeing everyone in their Jesse McCartney shirts from the 2000s (I even saw a Dream Street shirt) to singing my heart out to “It’s Over” and “Beautiful Soul,” I did not want the night to end. Little Katrina would never believe that one day she would have a photo pass and cover one of Jesse McCartney’s shows. My heart was so full, and I hope I get to continue seeing McCartney live many more times. Below is a gallery of photos from the show that you can view. I highly recommend catching a Jesse McCartney show if you ever get the chance.
