The Wombats brought their Oh! The Ocean Tour to the Roxian Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA on November 6, 2025. Red Rum Club, a rock band from Liverpool, opened the show with an amazing energy. Their music is bright and fun, and each member gave the set their all and interacted with the crowd as much as possible, keeping everyone engaged. I love anytime there’s brass in a band, so I was ecstatic when I saw the trumpet player, Joe “the Blow” Corby, come onstage and also play prominently on all of the songs of the set. Red Rum Club got the audience pumped up for the rest of the evening, and I hope I get the opportunity to see them live again.
Onstage next was British band Only the Poets. I have been listening to Only the Poets for a couple of years now, and this was my first time seeing them live, and I was overjoyed to finally have the opportunity. I genuinely love every one of their songs, so I didn’t care what was on the setlist, knowing it would be great no matter what. They performed a good mix of their older songs as well as songs that will be on their debut album, releasing January 30th. One of these was an unreleased song called “Monumental.” I am eagerly awaiting for the album to drop so that I can listen to it again. Only the Poets ended their set with one of my favorites, “I Keep on Messing it Up,” and they had the audience jumping up and down, dancing with a carelessness that was wonderful to experience.
To celebrate the release of their debut album, Only the Poets is putting on a show at the O2 Academy in Brixton where every ticket sold was £1. I will be traveling to London to see this show on February 2nd with one of my friends, and I’m positive it’s going to be the best time.
Finally, it was time for The Wombats to take the stage. It was immediately evident that the band was moved by how enthusiastic the audience in Pittsburgh was to see them. The band dubbed everyone at the show the “loudest smallest crowd.” This statement couldn’t be more true as everyone in the audience gave all of their energy and focus to the band for the entire show. Multiple concert-goers stood out to me throughout the night, including a cute duo of friends dancing wildly in the back of the venue to “Pink Lemonade” and a guy in the front row on the balcony dancing and singing his lungs out to every song.
Songs in the set included ”Can’t Say No” off of their 6th album, “1996” which I love because it’s my birth year, and another one of my favorites, “Turn.” I loved seeing the person dressed up in a wombat costume come onstage during a handful of songs in the show. That’s such a unique addition to a concert, and it was so joyful to watch. The Wombats ended the show with their biggest hits, “Greek Tragedy” and “Let’s Dance to Joy Division.”
I had a phenomenal time attending the Oh! The Ocean Tour, and I recommend for everyone to see The Wombats if they have the opportunity. This was my 2nd time seeing The Wombats as I originally saw them perform at All Things Go Music Festival in 2023, and I plan on seeing them as many times as I can. If you would like to check out some photos I took at the show, you can see them in the gallery below!
